I am a lawyer with significant work experience, who is getting ready to apply to McK as an experienced candidate. I am curious about the following -- (1) is it a good idea to include a significant transaction sheet with the resume (I have worked on way too many transactions, and of sufficiently different types, to concisely list on a one page resume with all the other information that should traditionally be presented), as would be typical while applying for a law job, (2) I know that the instructions on the web site re: resume recommend highlighting those things that one personally made a difference in, but would they expect to see a general statement regarding the transactions I have worked on or is a more specific tailoring expected, and (3) what in your opinion is the true value of the cover letter; is the cover letter read by each interviewer?
Finally, I know for certain kinds of candidates McK has a 70 min written test. Is this for every candidate? If so, what is the test aimed at ?? does it contain GMAT type questions?
Thanks in advance for your answer.

McKinsey won't care too much about the transactions you have worked on - the firm doesn't look for specific expertise but rather for potential when evaluating candidates. Keep that in mind when deciding to move into consulting - you will have to start from the bottom again.
