In Reply To: First I would like to thank everyone on this board for their constructive opinion. I have been addicted to this board for months.. Without you I would never have make it. As I have once been very lost, I feel the strong obligation to contribute back. Not too sure how to start, I think I will do it this way: I am an APD studying a PhD in engineering in England. I did undergrad in New Zealand and I am of Chinese origin. I have recently received an offer from McK Hong Kong office as a Junior Associate (I have done 1st and 2nd rounds in London). So.. anyone with questions about the GCO offices, interviews in London, APD application and other things that my backgroud might cover, please feel free to ask. I have the most genuine intent to help anyone in need (altho I might not be too knowledgeble at this stage), because while browsing this board for the past few months, I find much less info on APDs and the European/Asian offices compared to the US offices.
Message: First, congratulations on your recent offer from McKinsey. I'm sure you were very excited with the news. During your application process, about how many interviews were conducted in English and how many in the native language? I would imagine business-level mastery of local language is a requirement. What was the background of the consultants who interviewed you? were they all Chinese origin or multinationals? I'm sure there were some 2nd generation Chinese-american folks along with native Chinese folks with foreign degrees such as yourself. How competitive do you think the process was? What is Jr Associate position? I don??t think there are such roles in the US offices. Sorry for too many questions. Best!
