I had interviewed with McKinsey in the final round for MBA summer internships. I did not get an offer. My feedback told me that I could have been more distinctive in some of my case analyses. Beyond that I was not told about any specific areas for improvement.
People that I know within the Firm told me that summer MBA intern positions are very limited and that I should definitely try full time.
From the feedback that I got, can I assume that if I had really screwed up my interviews - McKinsey would have told me so? (given the culture of feedback that exists at the firm)
I know I will get a shot at McK again as I will be working for one the other strategy houses for the summer. |

If you'd _really_ screwed up, you'd probably know it as you were doing it. If you thought your interviews went reasonably well (particularly your cases) then chances are you just fell into that muddy group of candidates where there's nothing really wrong with them but they don't totally stand out from the crowd either, and so whoever calls you with the bad news has to come up with something fuzzy (like what you were told) to explain the rejection.
It certainly can't hurt to apply again for a full-time position next year. Good luck!
