In Reply To: I don't see why this is a problem for you. If your offer letter states that either you or the company can back out any time, then there is no ethical issue. I would write a thoughtful letter to the manager who hired you and accept the McK offer if that is what you want.
Message: Thank you for your advice! I really appreciate it. I didn't find the first position through university career services -- worse, I was hired by a mentor of mine who happens to be the hiring partner. He gave me an offer before I started seriously looking for jobs. I love the culture, the work, and the people at McK way more than the first place. But integrity and commitment are very important to me. I just don't know how much would sticking to these vaules cost me in the long run. Maybe I'll never be able to work in strategy consulting after taking on that different path... Or, maybe it's not that bad? What do you guys think?
