In Reply To: According to my recollection of discussing the topic in a worldwide recruiting conference in Saint-Kitts and Nevis, "The Firm" does not approve of dreadlocks and braids unless: 1) Your initials are BD (remember the movie "10"?) 2) Your reggae group has sold as many records as CSN and Y (or just CSN) in its first two years 3) All your clients have dreadlocks or braids. Apart from that, I recommend you not join the operations practice of McK (so you don't get you hair caught in machinery). In contrast, the Media practice could be a safe haven! Oh, BTW, just remember to keep your sense of humour at all times!
Message: I would have to agree. I am sure that you are smart and motivated but you have to place youself in the shoes of an executive who is paying the Firm mega-bucks for consulting only to have someone show up in dread-locks. Hell.. I've even seen men sporting small earrings. Not everyone can or should try to pull off the "Ed Bradley" look.
