In Reply To: If you're interviewing for a job knowing that you're in the midst of family planning and may well go on maternity leave in the coming year, what are the considerations? If you're confident that you're looking to stay in a new position for the long-term and don't want to raise red flags to the interviewer, is it deceptive not to wear wedding rings that might signal that you may be shortly starting a family?
Message: So, I can understand not starting the job interview by blurting out "I plan on having babies and being out on leave through most of my years at this Firm," but hiding your wedding band is borderline insane. As the other poster noted, it is neither legal nor ethical to consider marital status in an employment decision (in the US -- have no idea what the story is elsewhere), so it is not an issue. Also, deciding to think about having children does not = having children, as they may have taught you in health class back in HS. Leave the rings on, don't worry about this topic, and go forth and be fruitful and multiply.
