There is no offical stance. I find it interesting that recruiter musings are taken as such. The tripe about networking and contacts is not only uninformed, it confuses the purpose of that education.
The field of education is undergoing its own Internet revolution. Schools like MIT and Stanford are producing distance scholars. The tipping point is approaching.
The argument against reminds me of the RIAA railing against the ideas of Lawrence Lessig and James Boyle. |

FWIW the "no" I got from a BCG recruiter was stronger
than from the McK one. It may depend on a combination
of the firm in question and the distance education program.
A distance ed. MBA from Duke for example might get some
respect.
