As a current Chicago MBA, I can shed a bit more insight. McKinsey hired a significant amount of grads last year- since I'm not sure what information is being release to the public these days, I won't leave exact numbers on this board... but I can tell you that it's comparable to the amount hired from Colombia last year. Harvard probably supplies a greater number of hires, but another reason for this is that HBS has the largest top tier program in the US (1800 full time students).
I will say, however, that making your b-school decision based on the number of students a firm hires is an incredibly silly way to pick a school. There are so many data points to use in your analysis- specialty classes you want to take, opportunity to study abroad, fit with current students (MOST important in my opinion), and quality of career services to name just a few. Make sure you attend an admit weekend at both schools, and talk to as many current students as you possibly can.
In the case of HBS and Chicago, both are fantastic schools and if strategy consulting is what you want to do then you're going to have every top firm interviewing at both with large numbers of jobs being offered at both places. Remember, you need to spend 2 years at the school interacting with the people (you cannot just lock yourself away in the library), so make your decision based on where you want to be, not based on how many job offers McKinsey makes. If you're good enough to get a job at McKinsey, you can do it from any of the top schools. |
