How would industry or a start-up help him get into a top business school? Its what one actually did at the firm that makes a lot of the difference (also, brand name from a top consulting firm helps tremendously).
There are plenty of people from small consulting firms in at Wharton. I don't know about Harv/Stan, but Kellogg/Chicago also has several people from smaller consulting firms.
Only barrier I can see is being a bit too young. I know HBS/Stan are taking younger people, but Wharton averages closer to the 4-5 year mark of experience. |

I'm not in a hurry to go to B school. I want to make sure I have the right experience that would get me into one of the top schools - and this is what I need advice on!! What kind of a position should I shoot for? I feel like I'm over qualified for an Analyst but dont have enough experience (but ceratinly have the skills and determination) to be a consultant.
