In Reply To: Not the answer you want to hear, but... Go get an MBA from a top school, then join as an Associate. Now, getting into a top school is easier said than done. From the description of your background, it might be difficult. Most consultants in B-school tend to come from the top firms. Why don't you go to industry, work for a start up, or something, then do B school. Good luck.
Message: How would industry or a start-up help him get into a top business school? Its what one actually did at the firm that makes a lot of the difference (also, brand name from a top consulting firm helps tremendously). There are plenty of people from small consulting firms in at Wharton. I don't know about Harv/Stan, but Kellogg/Chicago also has several people from smaller consulting firms. Only barrier I can see is being a bit too young. I know HBS/Stan are taking younger people, but Wharton averages closer to the 4-5 year mark of experience.
