Actually many of the top performers at Goldman, McK, and esp hedge funds are physicists, electrical engineers, computer scientists, and other "hard" majors - while those skills may not be directly transferrable, quantitative thinking and raw intelligence are always an asset. |

..how much raw intelligence and quantitative thinking you need at an industry group at Goldman.
Hedgefunds with quant strategies - agreed.
I think the skils you mention plus problem solving are much more relevant in consultancy.
