Hi, is it true that Mckinsey rarely hires outside candidates for their partner track? I have strong exp in the strategy side of things (7+ yrs post MBA with F20 company) and looking to see if I would be attractive to Mckinsey.
Secondly, what sort of ranges in terms of pay and bonus can I expect at these levels.
I am going to toss my resume into the ring this week...your inputs will help as well. Thanks in advance! |

If you are thinking of joining directly as a partner, then you will go through a very strict screening process.
1) You must be "presented" by an office (eg by the partner group of that office);
2) You are reviewed by a specific committee that also evaluates partners (not partner candidates).
The odds of being "elected directly" are low, but are improved if you are already a partner in another well-known professional services firm and/or if you are a recognised expert in your field.
If you are thinking of joining as an EM or as an AP, then the recruiting process is more or less strictly an office decision (more for EM, less for AP).
Hope this helps
