In Reply To: From the APD perspective, I have to disagree a little bit on point three. At least at my core school, McK puts much more into non-MBA recruiting than any other firm. In addition to presentations and coffee chats, anyone you get a business card from is willing to discuss the firm or any issues related to consulting in general. I had one EM schedule a call from his hotel at 8am just to spend 30 min. to talk about assessing patient perception issues in health care. If there's a weakness in recruiting, it's more in the slow or complete lack of response from the recruiting staff. Also, the responses are often cut and pasted from the website or somehow contain very little actual information. It's amazing how many questions can be answered with "We're a meritocracy." I don't know if that's part of the culture or if they're just short-staffed. During the recruiting and holiday season though it's pretty understandable. Overall there's enough "above and beyond" stuff to impress.
Message: ...that you didn't think were answered well (or at all) by recruiting staff. IMHO, I think you are totally wrong about recruiters at McK. They are extremely hard working people, and skilled at what they do. At any rate, fire away.
