Sometimes people just overcomplicate things. I.e. with McKinsey a lot of people just go straight for a framework thinking it's structure. I just used a profitability framework on all my cases and was fine. the way I thought about structure was to break down the problem to a really easy problem. I always think of structure as the "will I make my flight example?" "Will I make my plane 6pm flight today?" I can answer that if you can answer the following questions for me: "What time are you leaving the office?" (this can be determined by how much work you have left etc.) "How long a ride is it to the airport" " How much traffic is there going to be?" " How long a line is expected at the airport" |

Thanks guys,
Those conmments are really helpful. It seems like Mck is really driving at a very clear and concise point that they want out of the case studies although they like you to venture in the 'play area' to see your creativity.
How bout BCG? I believe many who have gone for Mck must hav gone for the others as well? How does BCG differ? They come across as more academic in their case interviews enjoying more open ended/philosophical discussions to me...
Any advise?
