Hi all. I have a pretty big question, but I'm just going to throw it out there and see if anyone would like to contribute some information or advice. Hopefully it will be useful to others in a similar boat:
Our company--we supply custom shipping and gift-packing solutions primarily for online companies--has surpassed 200 employees and officially exited our "startup" stage. Now we're busy setting up the infrastructure and consistent operating principles we've been doing without the past couple years.
What I'm concerned with right now is, what to do with all of these hoards of sales materials, logo variations, brochures, and so forth. We've been through 3 ad agencies already, and also have a bunch of material produced in house. This stuff is scattered all over the place, and we need a way to organize it and give people access, salespeople out of the office especially need to be able to get their hands on the perfect pieces for a spur of the moment presentation and similar stuff.
What are people using to organize this information--extranet DB? Something off the shelf? What's working and what are the headaches?
Any input you have will be *greatly* appreciated.
TIA,
Mike

I'm not completely sure what scale you're talking about, and maybe you aren't either. I was talking to a PeopleSoft friend about something they're doing along these lines. Good, I was about to tell you about "BrandMachine" but I just checked and it's actually "ArtMachine" (.com) that they're using. Anyway this company is a pretty hardcore online service that goes in and collects and processes all your company's store of graphics, identity work and all that, and builds a custom site that makes it all available in the variety of formats with various levels of permissions. Sorry I don't have more specifics, especially on pricing. I think it's the kind of thing where, if you're in spend-some-money-and-get-it-
done-right mode, it could be a good option.
