I recently graduated with an undergraduate degree in Marketing. Neither are brand management jobs, but wanted anyone's input as to which job would be better to get on the brand management track.
I plan on getting my MBA after a few years of working at either place, mind you, and then go after a brand management job. One job is as a media associate for a media buying and planning company. The other is for a research analyst for an econ consulting firm. Does anyone have any suggestions which might be more appealing to a CPG company when looking to hire someone for a brand management position? |

Making the transition from the research position might be difficult if the scope of your job is more theoretical and SAS-specific. Market researchers can/do make the transition to brand mgmt but usually at the associate manager or manager level (vs analyst). Media may be more advantageous if you get exposed to the 5P's of the marketing mix (product, pricing, positioning, etc). Good luck!
