it's mostly informal, and you get to practise 2 cases with a group. For the IPSA, it's a lot of logic-type questions and a few numbers.
I'd say they're trying to assess
a) whether you have any business horse-sense or would be more comfortable thinking about the delta-subunit of the irrelevance protein.
b) whether you break out in hives when you see numbers

With the break outs is that just a practise run or are they assessing there too...and how do the dynamics of the group work - is like a classic group session with everyone shouting to have themselves heard!
