I work for one of those firms and I say with the way economy is right now, anything you can do to get that edge is a plus. Once you are in, it doesn't matter where you went to school. It's all about your ability to sell and deliver services. The practice of hiring grads from top schools is for the sake of client perceptions and external marketing/PR. |

Thanks for everyone's thoughts. I agree that the elitism is ridiculous. Used to work for one of the prestigious super-elitist management consultancies myself, and in many cases my most intelligent colleagues were from the 'second-tier' schools.
On the topic of creating a super-poncey arrogant resume, what are peoples' thoughts on listing GRE/GMAT scores (they're really strong)? Again, if *I* received a resume from someone with 'schools accepted' and GRE scores listed, I would probably laugh, but just can't tell if this market requires such desperate moves.
Thanks, everyone.
