In Reply To: Sorry....accidentally posted without completing my train of thought...... Any way...one HR recruiter outrightly told me that her consulting firm....name withheld....only considered candidates from top 10 schools. I wonder what this narrow minded approach does for diversity of thought in thw rokplace since everyone is basically a cookie-cut image. I would really like to hear from other MBA's with similar experiences and how they have been able to overcome this hurdle.....
Message: I work for one of those firms and it is all about client perceptions You are giving advice to captains of industry and powerful players who are paying you alot of money for your advice. You may not be any more competent then a top 10 graduate, but the perception is still there. Especially more difficult these days to get into a consulting firm with so many reductions in resources across the board. By the way, I did not graduate from a top school, but was hired during the boom of the late 80's. Hang in there- things are starting to heat up again. KPMG is hiring right now (Bearing Point)
