I think the pay is average. I never worked there, but I did interview with them (and received an offer) a year ago. Their role on M&A transactions involve more due diligence & strategy and less hardcore finance. You don't need a CPA. That said, they do like people with strong quantitative skills. During the interview process, I had a heavy dose of accounting and DCF valuation questons (but you won't need to know NOL carryforwards!). Good luck.
