I am a rising senior majoring in Political Science in one of the top liberal arts schools. Currently I am doing a summer financial analyst internship at one of the big three automotive companies. Is this an experience on my resume that would be helpful if I am going to apply for management consulting jobs in next year's recruiting?
Thanks! |

Sure. Depends what kind of consulting, but a little finance never hurts. This summer, keep track in a log of your projects, accomplishments, etc. Ask for kudos in writing, even if its just an email you print. You might find the Poli Sci a bit of a barrier. Why not business or finance or accounting if you're interested in consulting? Don't worry. There's mucho demand. The big firms like 'em young, raw, and maleable right out of school. Put 'em on a plane Sunday night thru Friday noon and mold them in your image. (BTDT). Good luck.
