I was hired by a boutique consulting firm in an entry level analyst position two years ago. Coming right out of college, with just Bachelors in Business Administration and no experience, I was not in a position to bargain with salary. In addition, I was the first person the firm hired without an MBA and pervious experience. Upon accepting the position with a starting salary in the low 30s the owner's exact words to me is that I'll have a steep learning curve to climb and I'll have to prove myself quickly. Over the past two years, not only have ramped up the curve quickly, I literally jumped over it. Since that time I have been promoted to a manager, oversee other analysts, and managed an internal e-commerce project successfully. Although I have been successful in my work, I feel as though my salary has not kept pace with my increased responsibility and value that I add. After my first year, I received approximately a 11% raise which brought my salary to the high 30s and a 15% annual bonus. The only part of my compensation that makes up for what I believe is the short fall is about 1,500 stock options valued around $25,000. I believe the firm got me on the cheep because of my lack of experience and has failed to adjust my salary accordingly. Anyone out their have an idea of the salary range for someone of my experience. |
