My srory: I worked for 2 years for a boutique strategy firm after getting my BA from Berkeley. My experience sounds frieghteningly similar to yours. I was very concerned about my salary but more importantly my growth opportunities with this firm. I went through a big campaign to negotiate a salary promotion with my firm as well as evaluated jumping ship to top-tier strategy firms and applying to MBAs. I don't know about your particular firm but my experience and many others is that you may be limited to growing in a boutique if you come in at a junior level.
My results: I got no where with my old firm and quit. I found it very difficult to get into a top consulting firm not using their traditional recruiting process (i.e. straight from a top undergrad or MBA). I applied and got accepted to Wharton and have very realisistic opportunities to hook up with the top firms and make 3x-4x my old salary.
My $.02: I would strategically evaluate and negotiate your options. See what you can do with your firm. Salary's of firms are posted on this site. Consider switching companies and definitely consider an MBA if you want to stick with consulting. Finally, don't worry too much about your salary right now but rather your medium- and long-term career and wealth building. I know this is frustrateing. but this will happen not just by working hard but working and studying with the right people - trust me, I learned the hard way. Good Luck!

What is the name of the boutique firm you worked forif I may ask?
I was thinking of boutique consulting myself after I finished my Masters. What were your responsibilities and what was the focus of the firm? Was it strategy...? Have you heard of sca consulting by any chance? And how was the travel?
Thanks
