I made the jump to strategy consulting after 17 years in IT development and implementation. I joined Mitchell Madison Group (RIP), went through boot camp, EM/SEM to VP/Partner in marchFIRST (ho ho!) in 5 years. Yes, it can be done!
Now an independent.
I've never come across anybody else who has made a similar transition - is there anybody else out there who has done it, and would they who would like to share their experiences? |

I have been in IT for approx. 18 years, including a brief stint at Cambridge Tech Parners. (I was laid off after 5 months in 2000 due to no business at the firm)
I currently am a network manager for a mid-sized company in NYC and am involved with server, security and infrastructure issues. I have been thinking of making a jump to consulting and wanted to know if there are some consulting firms who would hire a seasoned professional like my self. So its interesting to read your email, as you have done it! Could you provide any tips??
Thanks
