In Reply To: That might be true for an IT firm, but if a strat firm ever asks you to give an example of a time you had to think analytically, post the company and the interviewer's name here and he will surely be fired by Monday morning for asking such a moronic question. Later rounds with a mgmt or strat firm (not an IT firm and therefore not the Big 4) will have much the same feel as previous rounds. They test your analytic skills with cases and they look for "fit" during every interaction you have.
Message: Strategy firms want to make sure that the fact that you nailed the case interviews in the first rounds wasn't a fluke. In addition to fit, they want to know if you are going to struggle with the analytics. They will expect you to do quick math in your head (easy stuff...fractions, setting up simple algebra) and will be disappointed when you begin doing long division on your pad. Usually, the first round interviewers are 1st year project leaders or young managers. In the second round, you will be dealing with more seasoned manager and partners. Never let them see you get red in the face or frustrated. They want to see someone "enjoying" the interview and thought process. Good luck!
