I made the jump to strategy consulting after 17 years in IT development and implementation. I joined Mitchell Madison Group (RIP), went through boot camp, EM/SEM to VP/Partner in marchFIRST (ho ho!) in 5 years. Yes, it can be done!
Now an independent.
I've never come across anybody else who has made a similar transition - is there anybody else out there who has done it, and would they who would like to share their experiences? |

Interesting transition from IT to Strategy, no less making Partner.
I'd like to make a similiar transition to Strategy Consulting or corporate-level positions in strategic planning. Background includes 6 years in IT implementations (ERP & data warehouse) including functional expertise in finance and reporting.
What advice would you give to make the jump/leap? Any how-to tips?
