In Reply To: I just graduated from a top school w/ a strong science/engineering background. I will now be working for a boutique firm addressing intellectual property issues for medical devices. This is a very technically oriented position. A few years from now I would ideally be working for a consulting firm addressing more strategic issues in the industry. I basically don't want to be stuck doing "tech" analysis forever, as I would like to incorporate some solid business experience before I explore appying to B-school. Does anyone have any advice for what I can do NOW while I'm at this job that may help me prepare for my intended future career move? What would consulting OR VC firms look for in considering me as a potential candidate?
Message: Just get an MBA and hang out in the consulting club, go to review sessions (by major firms), and prctice a few cases. The MBA is sufficient to let you career switch.
