In Reply To: Hi there.. if you went to a top 5 MBA firm... it must have cost 60Gs+ in tuition right? In retrospect, do you think your MBA is worth it? Was the friends you meet, and the material you learned enough? cheers.
Message: An MBA from a top tier is worth it only if....you want to change careers. If oyu want to do something radically different then your doing in Business then it is worth it. FOr instance if you are an information systms person who wants to get into marketing. It is also worth it if you do not have any business training. Remember an MBA was designed for that Engineer who suddnely was promoted to run his department and has no idea how to make a budget, manage, or run a business. I think for everyone else, its a graduate degree. Im a CPA, honestly what is an MBA going to teach me about running a business. I talk to my clients everyday about running a business. If I go to get my MBA is because I want to retake some classes to brush up on my financial modeling and gain some more strategy insight to help my clients further. For me its not going to add much to me except focu me more into Finance. As per strategy consulting..hey a lot of people I know and have met in it have Phd's in sciences. Not many seem to have MBA's. Investment Bankers, yes the MBA is looked at differently due to a lot of associates dont have businessdegrees, so after analyst sint the get the MBA. Thats my two cents, give me your email...I'll send yo ua bill...=)
