I will be graduating with an Econ BA from the University of Chicago in June. I am currently weighing job offers and having trouble deciding. I have an offer to start as an FCA (similar to stockbroker) at both SmithBarney and UBS PaineWebber. Also have an offer to do government management consulting/business development with The Gallup Organization in DC. I feel the Gallup position will give me great exposure to business, but I'm hesitant to work for a firm that is not top 20. SmithBarney, on the other hand, has an excellent name, but the position is not as intellectually stimulating and the compensation is largely commission-based. Are either of these positions worth being interested in? Which will look better when applying to B-schools?
Incidentally, anyone know what an adequate salary is in DC?
