I graduated from a top 5 mba program in 2001 and had my start date with Accenture's strategy practice deferred indefinitely to date. I've been doing some volunteer work and also some contract software implementation work while waiting around. Are any firms hiring right now and is there any hope that the industry outlook will improve in the near term?

Whoever posted the comment about whether an MBA is worth it or not - I have your answer. Don't go back to school. The very fact that you are trying to evaluate education in terms of how much it guarantees a future salary suggests you understand very little about what an MBA is all about. Nothing in the world aside from hard work and persereverence guarantees high salaries. So stop trying to do "roi" analyses on educational opportunities - the value of education just change just because the economy is in the dumps
