Many firms downsized, slashed hiring, reduced retention incentives and encouraged attrition.
Of course, to those who are left it seems that things are busier.
And that may be true to a small degree, from the perspective of an insider in a lean organization. But please, don't confuse that with real bounceback in the economy. That will not be happening until Q3 at the earliest, and probably not until 2004. |

Tech-Rec is correct. The worldwide consulting market will be flat for the near future. Anecdotal evidence might say otherwise. In my firm, some offices that were sold-out last year are slow this year, and our slowest North American office last year is sold-out at present. In the end, it all balances out to a flat market.
From the perspective of those left, though, all that matters is utilization. I don't care how much $$ the partners make, as long as I stay utilized.
