Take the promo for 6-12 months and leverage it (ie lie) to get a new job elsewhere. To go from zero reports to 10 is too good for your CV to deny it. Just make sure you position it correctly (ie lie again) when you leave in 12 months time.
I always refuse to answer questions like " and what is your current salary" I respond by saying "My current salary is indicitive of my current position, we are talking about a new position here and I believe my skills and experience warrant a salary of X"
