The EEOC applies to people over age 40. Unfortunately, appearance is not a protected category.
I would send a letter to the CEO (not the HR director) and complain about your experiences. If you interviewed with them at a university I would send a copy of the letter to the university career services department. The university may act on it. In any event you will stir things up. |

The EEOC does only protect people over the age of 40, but if the employer were using appearance as a proxy for age, then they could be liable for discriminating against those over 40.
You cannot just say "You look too old, we aren't going to hire you" and claim that you aren't discriminating on the basis of age, but on appearance.
