In Reply To: in plain words do consultants do. i have a firm interest in the financial markets but i quite like the idea of consultancy. Lets just say i get a job with a firm straight out of college, what contributions will i make to the team. I find it hard but maybe its just ignorance, but how does someone around 24/5yrs tell a 40+ senior manager how to run his company. by the way what do these projects typically entail?
Message: A 24 yr old kid right out of school in consulting will draw Viseo diagrams, PowerPoint slides, write reports aka "deliverables" or "whitepapers". Several of these consultants and senior consultants will report to a manager. A manager has the worst job because they have to bust their ass to make Partner while trying to keep track of the all the consultants and clients. A Partner is a bigwig in the firm. He makes the big money, comes and goes as he pleases, shmoozes with clients and little else. He is the one who convinces the client that they need the service. The actual project are usually a lot of smoke an mirrors crap. Basically, it's a lot like putting together a group presentation in school on something you read in the Wall Street Journal.
