Message: Hello everyone, I am looking for some advice. I am a current junior student at Columbia University. I am doing a double major in computer science and economics. My overall GPA is 3.78 while my economic major GPA is 4.18 and Computer Science GPA is 3.8. I am an international student and through working full time as a System Administrator for a Government agency I was able to support my self and pay for school. My contract ends in about 1.5 years, which leaves enough time for me to graduate. I am seeking to enter the consulting industry upon graduation (either IT or Strategy). My question is: should I quit my job in the summer in order to do a summer internship? I know that landing a Consulting internship is difficult, esp. when this year Columbia was not targeted by the major firms. However, there are many options available for summer analyst program. Will a summer internship in investment banking/investment management better my chances to get a job upon graduation? or should I remain in my current job. Thanks for your time.
