I'm currently working for a former big 4 consulting firm as a business analyst right out of college. The jobs ok, but i'm mostly doing business requirements work, which i think is boring.
I have a chance to work for an small economic consulting firm, doing research, statistical analysis, etc. It's a two year program. The pay might be less but I think it would be more interesting.
My question is which opportunity do you guys think would look better on my MBA application? And any thoughts on two years programs and small economic shops in general? Thanks in advance. |

B-schools look for "the story" (as do your future employers). Work where you can position yourself best for what you want to do in the future. If you leave the consulting firm with less than 1 year under your belt, be ready to answer the question "Why did you leave so quickly?".
What B-school folk want to know is "How is getting an MBA from their program going to enable you to move from success A to super-success B."
So think about where you are now, how does it prepare you for where you want to go and how does it help you craft the "next chapter" in your story.
Good luck.
