After 4 years at USC, consulting was my first choice. I took all the right classes yet due to financial difficulties, I started and ran my own business on-line out of my dorm room to make ends meet for about two years. However, due to the amount of time I invested in my business, I wasn't able to pull off the 3.5 GPA most students who got hired had!
I feel like I know so much and can do so much more than those who were hired, yet I was not even considered for an interview because of my GPA. I have also tried to get in touch with those companies for out of school interviews but they only want people with experience!
Any suggestions as to how I can get my foot in the door?

in your cover letter. Most everyone will have sympathy for someone working their way through school. Just realize that consulting is really hard to get into, so they are rejecting lots of people with very high qualifications. How were your test scores? If they were also low (relative standard) than you will probably get dinged (since people will figure that workload was not the only reason for low grades). If they were high, than you have a reasonable chance.
BTW, there are no "right classes" for consulting. They look for general smarts more than undergrad b-knowledge. (They're gonna teach you how they want analysis done anyway...and most people can pick it up pretty readily even wwithout a business background.)
