In Reply To: To get into consulting, the best path is Engineering, maths and hard science, econ?
Message: A lot of people are bashing the business degree. While there is no way business students can match science grads in math realize that consulting does not take the average graduate. They take the top 10-15% depending on your school. Those top students definitly have the math required to handle consulting. Plus, the math isn't really that hard at all. We aren't talking about quants or risk managers here... in consulting you will work crazy hours so you need to love what you do. The engineering grad applying for a non-engineering related position will have a hard time selling why he wants to switch. Listen, the most important thing is marks. Engineering and a 3.0 will not beat a business and 3.5 even if they might be equal in difficulty. Consulting is not rocket science. They want analytical people with interpersonal skills.
