I don't know a huge amount about VC, but my gut says you will be a lot happier as a young analyst at a large consulting company. More colleagues. More of a system to teach you. The VC thing sounds cool, but I would do it afterwards.
Obviously both industries are extremely tight now. You will have to be very comeptetive to get in. And they will kiss your ass a lot less than they used to. I would also take a look at "real companies/real jobs".
Good luck. |

I might have the opportunity to intern over a few months at a very small boutique consulting firm (~7-8 people).
I interviewed today; the place looks great, the people are are bright and polished, clients are big financial services companies -- I know I'd learn a ton, but I've got to think the name carries almost zero weight come time to recruit with the big firms. I might also have the opportunity to intern at JP Morgan Private Bank, and I'm tempted to do that simply for the name recognition. Thoughts?
