In Reply To: i am only a sophmore right now would it be worth calling up an office and and just trying to chat with sumone there to possibly meet with them for lunch or something, also do letters of recomendation count for anything if one was from a CFO or CEO of an f500 company?
Message: answer your questions honestly. Not to hurt your feelings. The top strat firms, probably won't give you an interview with those test scores. Sure...you may be smarter than what the test says...but they are sorting groups. A couple things to consider: 1. Take the GRE or GMAT. And show a better score. (If you really think you can do better than what the SAT showed.) 2. Apply to some of the less picky firms. Accenture, etc. ----------- I think the letter from a CEO would only be useful if sent to a partner at the consulting firm you are targeting (and where the partner knows the person sending the letter.) Just a "to whom it may concern" won't do anything for a consulting job. ------------- No reason not to investigate things as a sophomore. Go ahead. ------------- And if you do get an interview, know how to do cases.
