I'm not positive, but I doubt that the PhD would get you a higher salary or faster advancement track. If you want to make a career of consulting, I would recommend staying in the workplace. i.e. go to school part time. Except for the MBA, nothing is valued more than real applicable work experience. Basically, the fims ARE interested in what you know, but they are even more interested in what you have done.I agree though, that as far as PhDs are concerened, those that develope your analytical skills are definitely more useful in this career than those that don't.
