Hi all,
I am a 25 yr old grad student hoping to finish off my Phd in Computer Sc. by December this year. I am interested in management/strategic consulting.
I received regret letters from BCG and Bain even before they called me to an interview! Naturally, I want to do a re-think of my "strategy".
So this message is specifically to anyone who is already working in one of the big ones. here is a brief background of my credentials...
--My phd thesis is on Optimal Pricing Algorithms for Internet Content (the new generation of Internet based entertainment services)
--My expertise lies in capacity planning, resource and service pricing, and in performance evaluation of computer and telecommunication systems.
--I have a whole bunch of research publications in areas like pricing and resource management, network congestion control etc.
--I have filed for around 5 patents (of course, i dont "own" any of them, the university and companies get to eat the pie)
so bottomline is, will a management/strategic consulting company be interested in my qualifications? or am i looking at the wrong career?
if my skill set is of definite interest to mgmt consulting firms, then i better take a second look at my resume/CV...
any suggestions are welcome.
thanks.
