you need to be specific in what industry you are interested. For example, for a company in biotech, it's obvious that you will most likely need advanced degress and strong knowledge of science. Whereas in a bank, you would need strong finance. In an insurance company, you'd probably need to have good sales skills. and the list goes on... what's the industry. Your question "typical CFO, CEOs..." is already asked with the assumption that there is a typical. That is an incorrect assumption.
CPA is a complete waste of time unless you want to be number crunching your whole life. You had better realize that you can't study your way to the top... |

Exactly--there is no "typical" path to CEO. What they share is that they're typically very ambitious and smart as hell.
Read "How to Become CEO" by Jeffery Fox. One of the best management books ever written.
