I am applying to a couple of MBA programs in the Houston area. How important is the size and/or reputation of the institute? |

Reputation of the school from which you get your MBA is everything. I mean that with not a bit of sarcasm because it cannot be overstated. Whenever you walk into a client to sell a study, slide #2 (the introductory slide) will say "John Q. Consultant; XX years experience at XX consulting firm; graduate of XX Ivy League University with high honors." Your clients aren't going to pay hundreds of dollars an hour for the consulting advice of a community college grad they can hire for $10/hr.
The best advice is this: attend the best MBA program you can get into, and if you can't get into a top program, keep trying till you do. This won't do everything of course. You need to graduate at the top of your class, have good people skills, yada yada yada
