Topic Name: Late 20's too late for consulting?
Message Name: Large consulting firms need bodies

In Reply To: I always found it somehow interesting that so many consulting firms are going for recent grads. In our company (IT-focus, European focus with HQ in Switzerland), we try to recruit people with some years of either consulting or industry experience. We have some recent grads as well, but they often come with a PhD and have done their research in a pragmatice and case oriented way.
Message: They recruit recent grads because they are cheep. Large firms need lots of analysts and so on to do the grunt work and bill the hours. The consultants right out of school are not expected to be industry experts.
