In Reply To: Anyone know much about Adventis and how they are doing these days? I don't know much about them but they seem to be a niche player in a niche that is currently in a lot of trouble (telecommunications, etc.). On top of that, they also seem (to me) to be more like a Gartner Group kind of an operation than a pure strategy firm (but, once again, in a very specific niche). Their web page says, "Leading Management and Strategy Consultancy to the converging global information industries". Who came up with that one? Thanks.
Message: They do legitimate stratgey work in telecoms & media. I have seen some of the work they did for the business services division of a large telecoms player in the US, and it was ok. In looking at this specific piece of work, I would say that others would have done better, e.g. it had financial / benchmarking which could have been done better by another firm ... but, then, most firms' work varioes in quality ... what I saw from Adventis was not distinguishable from what Mcinsey, BCG, Bain or Booz might produce in one of their less successful projects. Bottom line ... I probably would not hire them based on what I saw, but that's a sample of 1, and I'd be inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt. Also, in terms of thopught leadership, their head, Marc Bruneau, is in fact pretty well respected and well-quoted in the trade press as well as occasionally in the FT, Economist, etc. They're no qworse than anyone else, but they play off an industry base, not sheer intellectual horsepower.
