Message: Folks, I have a PhD in Electrical Engineering and have been working in R&D for the past six years. Past two years I have moved into a more project leader type/client relations type role with a goal of moving into a general management track. But this approach hasn't really moved me in the direction I wanted to go and I applied to several MBA programs where I am currently waitlisted. The goal being to do MC for a few years and then move into a company where I can combine my technical and business skills in the general management/strategy track. The waitlist is an iffy proposition I am thinking of applying directly to the companies I would like to work for (top-5 MC) post MBA. Question is do people with PhDs benefit from an MBA in the MC track or is it a no-gain, no-loss proposition? Comments are appreciated. Thanks.
