Miguel_y,
As a professional who will be starting a full-time MBA program in the fall with eyes on the Strategy Consulting field therafter, your post arouses a lot of interest to me.
Could you point to some resources: books, websites, etc. which would paint a clearer picture of the Strategy Consulting field and the opportunities there?
Many Thanks! |

IBM dude,
Which MBA program are you entering? Here are some resources you might find helpful as you're learning more about strat consulting.
For books, I think you're at the right place. The vault and wet feet have published some pretty in-depth materials and I've reviewed both and they all seem rather accurate. You might also want to go to McKinsey's and BCG's websites not only to get information about the field, but ALSO to see what books those firms have published. I have skimmed through a book called "the McKinsey Way" (or something like that) and this book was quite interesting and gave a nice "insider's view" of one of the best firms out there.
The very best place to get information, however, it your own B-school, especially if you're comfortable contacting alumni. Through "informational interviewing", you'll not only get the very best "insider info", you'll get contacts and strategies on how to land a job at SPECIFIC companies AND even office locations.
