In Reply To: Dear INFP, I think you have answered your own question. INFPs, historically, need to perform "noble" services to aid society. The "noble" is somewhat ambiguous, but it relates specifically to the INFPs strong personal values. INFPs also seek inner order and peace. Typically, they are reserved and non-directive. I think you would be eaten alive in a corporate consutling arena. You might consider non-profits whose values parallel yours. Some environment which is not so aggressive and competitive. I am a NT consultant who has 18 years experience with the MBTI. I think it is a wonderful tool for self-validation and enlightenment, however, it is not a hiring tool. Beware of anyone who wants to assess you prior to hiring. Good luck in your job search.
Message: Loen said <> Um, I don't know anything about consulting, but I do know a thing or two about non-profit and I haven't found one yet that is NOT aggressive and competitive, not to mention petty, sanctimonious, territorial, unsupportive, dysfunctional with rapid turnover (except for the sharks who have protected their turf) all hidden in the guise of a "good cause." Don't go there. I'm an INFP now happily doing assistant work in executive recruiting while concentrating on writing in my (now significantly more since I'm out of non-profit) spare time, while also enjoying my significantly higher salary. If the original poster is young and relativley responsibility-free, he/she should try consulting, there must be a reason he/she gravitated toward it in the first place; you can always learn and move on. Good luck.
