In Reply To: This is an example of my point - look at Stanny (hope you don't mind mate) in the previous post "Late 20s too late for consulting?". Stanny is from an HR background, which makes it more likely that he is an "F" - making decisions on people problems - and this also clearly shows in how he kindly acknowledges everyone's posts - he cares about their feelings (!) This is not to say that "F"s are stupid (far from it) or that "T"s don't care at all about feelings, but rather I would ask: how many people acknowledge and thank people several times for their replies on these consulting message boards? Not many - you guys are all "T"s!! Stanny - from someone who's not speaking from any sort of experience, I would still suggest: think carefully before entering into an industry of ruthlessly efficient (and at times uncaring?) individuals. Am I being fair here? Perhaps not...
Message: Actually, I'm an INTJ frustrated with the 'nicities' of HR, though I would like to get into a HR Strat role. The HR function had a lot of EEO strategy which kept me there this long. As for my acknowledgements to messages, I'm used to doing this because of the other folks I'm working with ( a case of being nurtured as opposed to being my natural self...) To be quite frank, INTJ's typically see a lot of social interaction as frivolous and I am certainly in that group though because I am smart ;), I can play the game... My problem is selling that to a prospective consulting co (who will assume I am ESFP), like the 'kind and gentle' poster also assumes!
